Frédéric Chaine

Violon — jazz manouche

French conductor, violinist and composer, born in Avignon, deeply rooted in Belgium. Trained at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. Founder and artistic director of the Ensemble Orchestral Européen; also leads the Frédéric Chaine Quartet, a gypsy-jazz formation that bridges his classical foundation with jazz improvisation.

Rafael Gouirand

Guitare manouche — luthier

Guitarist of the Frédéric Chaine Quartet, and luthier. At his bench, he builds acoustic gypsy-style guitars inspired by historical models, through BiM Lutherie Compagnie (Braine-le-Comte), a workshop shared with Frédéric Guédon and Simon Daron. On stage, his instruments speak as loudly as his notes.
